Britten’s great-nieces become project patrons

We are delighted and honoured that Britten’s great-nieces, Sophie Blake and Tamara Britten have enthusiastically agreed to become patrons of the Britten as a Boy statue project. On a visit to Lowestoft in June, Tamara, who lives in Nairobi, was immediately keen to support and help our campaign. Sophie, who lives in Edinburgh, visited Lowestoft with her mother, Judi Britten in August. They wanted to visit the maquette and also see Britten's birthplace and home area. They walked with Ruth around Kirkley and along the seafront. It was a glorious day. Sophie felt a strong connection to our project and offered her support and help.

We are really excited about the project and the impact it could have on future generations in Lowestoft.

I hope the story of Britten, growing up in Lowestoft, inspires the town’s children to have the confidence to follow their dreams.
